The declaration of the JKBOSE Class 10 result has been delayed due to the absence of a permanent Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE), even though the results are ready. This was confirmed by Education Minister Sakina Itoo, who said that the mandatory Result Declaration Committee meeting cannot be convened without the Chairman, leading to uncertainty among students and parents.

Speaking on the issue, the Education Minister clarified that the delay is purely administrative and not related to evaluation or compilation of results.

Class 10 Result Ready, But Declaration Stuck

Education Minister Sakina Itoo stated that the Class 10 result has already been prepared, but its official declaration is pending due to procedural requirements.

“The result is ready, but it cannot be declared as the Result Declaration Committee meeting has to be chaired by the Chairman JKBOSE. Since the Board is without a permanent Chairman, the process is delayed,” she said.

The Result Declaration Committee is a statutory body that finalises results, addresses discrepancies, and formally approves their publication.

Result Now Likely in Second Week of January

Providing an updated timeline, the Education Minister indicated that the JKBOSE Class 10 result is now likely to be declared in the second week of January.

Earlier, officials had suggested that the result could be announced around January 6 or 7, but the leadership vacuum at JKBOSE has pushed the timeline further.

According to sources, the government is exploring interim administrative solutions to ensure that students do not suffer due to procedural delays.

Class 12 Result Expected by Month-End

Alongside the Class 10 update, Sakina Itoo also shared information about senior secondary results.

  • Class 10 Result: Likely in the second week of January
  • Class 12 Result: Expected by the end of January

Officials said that the declaration of Class 12 results is also linked to the same committee process, which requires the presence of a Chairman.

Government May Assign Additional Charge

To resolve the impasse, the Education Minister said the government may assign additional charge of JKBOSE Chairman to a senior officer, as the appointment of a permanent Chairman may take more time.

“The panel of three shortlisted candidates for the post of Chairman is pending final formalities, which may take some time. In the meantime, the government may assign additional charge to an officer,” Sakina Itoo said.

Such an arrangement would allow the Result Declaration Committee to meet and approve the results without further delay.

Why the Chairman Appointment Is Delayed

The delay in appointment of a permanent JKBOSE Chairman has its roots in the selection process itself. A Search Committee had already shortlisted three candidates, but the final decision has not been taken within the validity period of the panel.

Meanwhile, the additional charge of Chairman JKBOSE, which was earlier being held by a senior officer, ended after the officer’s superannuation on December 31, leaving the Board headless.

This administrative gap has directly impacted time-sensitive processes like result declaration.

Students Caught in the Middle

The uncertainty has caused anxiety among thousands of students who appeared in the Annual Regular 2025 examinations.

Education experts warn that any further delay could:

  • Affect admissions to Class 11
  • Disrupt academic calendars
  • Impact competitive exam preparation
  • Increase stress among students and parents

Students and parents have urged the government to take immediate interim measures so that results are declared without further delay.

Background: Exams Held in November 2025

The JKBOSE Annual Regular examinations for Classes 10 to 12 were conducted in November 2025 across Jammu, Kashmir, and winter zone areas.

Considering academic disruptions during the session, JKBOSE had earlier announced a 15 percent syllabus relaxation, which was widely welcomed by students.

With evaluation completed and results ready, the current delay is seen as purely administrative rather than academic.

What Students Should Do Now

Until an official announcement is made, students are advised to:

  • Avoid rumours and unverified social media claims
  • Rely only on official JKBOSE and government statements
  • Keep documents ready for post-result admissions
  • Stay mentally prepared, as results are expected soon

Officials reiterated that once the Chairman issue is resolved, the results will be declared without further delay.

Conclusion

While the JKBOSE Class 10 result is ready, its declaration hinges on resolving the Chairman vacancy. With the government considering interim arrangements, students can expect the results in the second week of January, while Class 12 results are likely by month-end.

The situation underscores the importance of administrative continuity in key education institutions, especially during crucial academic milestones.
