JKBOSE Grace Marks: Everything You Need to Know

If you’re a Class 10th, 11th, or 12th student under JKBOSE and wondering about grace marks, here’s a clear and easy-to-understand guide. There are two types of grace marks, and here’s how they work:

📌 1. Grace Marks for Out-of-Syllabus Questions

Why are they given?

  • If your exam paper includes questions that are not from the syllabus, JKBOSE awards grace marks for those questions.

How does it work?

  • Students complain about out-of-syllabus questions.
  • JKBOSE reviews the paper and confirms if the questions were truly out of syllabus.
  • If confirmed, all students who attempted that exam get full marks for those questions.

Are there any limits?

  • No limits! If an out-of-syllabus question is worth 4 marks, every student gets 4 grace marks, no matter what.

📌 2. General Grace Marks (Free Marks to Pass a Subject)

Why are they given?

  • These marks are awarded to help students pass if they are a few marks short in one or more subjects.

What’s the maximum limit?

  • Up to 5 grace marks in total, across all subjects.

How do they work?

  • JKBOSE gives grace marks strategically to help you pass.

✅ How Grace Marks Are Given: Real-Life Scenarios

✔ Case 1: 1 Subject Needs 1 Extra Mark

Example:

  • You need 25 marks to pass a subject, but you got 24.
  • JKBOSE adds 1 grace mark, so you pass.

✔ Case 2: 2 Subjects Need 1 Extra Mark Each

Example:

  • You passed three subjects, but in two subjects, you’re short by 1 mark each.
  • JKBOSE adds 1 mark to each subject → Total 2 grace marks given.

✔ Case 3: 3 Subjects Need 1 Extra Mark Each

Example:

  • You passed two subjects, but in three subjects, you need 1 mark each.
  • JKBOSE adds 1 mark per subject → Total 3 grace marks given.

✔ Case 4: 4 Subjects Need 1 Extra Mark Each

Example:

  • You passed one subject, but in four subjects, you need 1 mark each.
  • JKBOSE adds 1 mark per subject → Total 4 grace marks given.
  • Since 4 ≤ 5, you pass all subjects.

✔ Case 5: 5 Subjects Need 1 Extra Mark Each

Example:

  • You’re short by 1 mark in all five subjects.
  • JKBOSE adds 1 mark per subject → Total 5 grace marks given.
  • Since 5 = 5, you pass all subjects.

❌ Case 6: You Need More Than 5 Marks

Example:

  • You’re short by 1 mark in four subjects but need 2 marks in the fifth subject.
  • Total required = 4 + 2 = 6 grace marks (which is more than 5).
  • Since 6 > 5, you don’t qualify for grace marks and fail.

✔ Case 7: You Need All 5 Grace Marks in 1 Subject

Example:

  • You passed four subjects, but in one subject, you scored 20 marks (passing mark is 25).
  • JKBOSE adds 5 marks → You pass.

✅ Final Summary: JKBOSE Grace Marks Rules

  1. Grace Marks for Out-of-Syllabus Questions:
    • Given to all students equally.
    • No limit on marks – based on how many marks the out-of-syllabus questions were worth.
  2. General Grace Marks (Free Marks to Pass):
    • Maximum of 5 marks across all subjects.
    • Only awarded if you need 5 marks or less to pass.
    • If you need more than 5 marks, you don’t qualify for grace marks.

Jk BOSE is the only Board of India which really wants to help students and motivate them to study. I’m thankful to Almighty Allah At least our Education Board is Honest and True.

During my exam, I noticed that a few students had their phones and used them to copy answers. I swear on God, I didn’t use a phone—many students didn’t cause its holy month of Ramadan and cheating is a sin—but around 6-7 did. They even answered questions that were out of the syllabus, which clearly proves they cheated. It’s unfair that students who worked hard and studied might get lower marks, while those who used phones could score 99 or even 100 without effort. This kind of dishonesty affects everyone.
