The wait is finally over for lakhs of students across Jammu and Kashmir. The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has officially confirmed that the results for both Class 10th and Class 12th (Annual Regular) examinations will be declared today, Tuesday, January 14.

Confirming the development, JKBOSE Chairman Ghulam Hassan Sheikh stated that the Board is all set to honour the commitment made by the government and Education Minister Sakina Itoo.

The Schedule: Morning and Afternoon Slots

In a strategic move to manage web traffic and administrative flow, the Board has decided to release the results in two shifts on the same day:

  • Class 10th Results: Expected around 10:30 AM.

  • Class 12th Results: Expected around 2:00 PM.

Chairman Sheikh, who holds the charge of Secretary and additional charge of Chairman, told Kashmir News Service (KNS), “The government wanted a timely declaration of results… We have made all necessary arrangements to declare both results on a single day, a benchmark we maintained last year as well.”

“Best Results So Far”

Giving a morale boost to students before the official link activation, the Chairman disclosed that the overall performance statistics are exceptionally positive.

“The overall result is better than last year. In fact, it is the best so far. The pass percentage is high and very few students have failed,” Sheikh said.

He emphasized that the results reflect the hard work of the students. However, he clarified that the Board does not conduct gender-wise analysis (Boys vs. Girls) at the examination stage, leaving pedagogical assessments to the concerned directorates.

Why Same-Day Declaration?

Explaining the rationale behind releasing both major results simultaneously, the Chairman highlighted the mental health aspect of students. “When results are delayed, students remain anxious and are unable to concentrate on their next class or future plans. Timely results free them from that uncertainty,” he noted.

Reforms: Decentralized Services

Apart from the results, the Chairman highlighted recent administrative reforms to improve accessibility. The Board has decentralized services related to corrections in spelling, date of birth, and parentage.

  • New Process: Students no longer need to travel to the main offices in Srinagar or Jammu for these corrections.

  • District Level: Formalities can now be completed at district sub-offices, where cases are processed after verification based on new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Message to Parents and Students

Ahead of the big day, Chairman Sheikh issued a message urging positivity. He appealed to parents not to put undue pressure on their children.

“Class 10 and 12 are important milestones, but they are not the end of one’s academic journey,” he said. “There are many examples of people who did not perform well initially but went on to succeed later in life.”
