Meteorological officials confirmed that the drop in temperature is due to clear night skies and dry weather conditions, allowing heat to escape rapidly after sunset.

Residents in high-altitude and sub-zero zones have been advised to take precautions, especially during early morning and late evening hours when frost formation is likely.

The weatherman has forecast continued cold and dry conditions for the next few days, with a possible rise in temperature by the weekend.

🔔 Advisory for Locals

  • Use adequate winter clothing during morning and evening hours.
  • Protect water pipes and vehicle engines from frost.
  • Expect dense fog and icy roads in morning hours in south and north Kashmir.

📍 Outlook

The Kashmir Valley is officially transitioning into its winter phase, with sub-zero nights expected to become more frequent as Chillai Kalan — the harshest 40-day winter period — approaches next month.
