Middle Stage (3 Years)

Emphasis on experiential and exploratory learning.

13. Standard 10 (SSC) at 16 years
14. Standard 11 (FYJC) at 17 years
15. Standard 12 (SYJC) at 18 years

Language Policy

  • Students will be taught in their mother tongue, regional language, or national language up to Grade 5.
  • English will be introduced only as a subject.
This ensures a strong foundation in native languages before transitioning to English.

Assessment Reforms

  • Semester-based examinations will replace annual exams for Grades 9 to 12.
  • The traditional 10th board exams have been discontinued; only 12th board exams will be conducted.

Higher Education Overhaul

Flexible College Degrees

New Education Policy

  • 3-Year Degree:
    • 1st year: Certificate
    • 2nd year: Diploma
    • 3rd year: Degree
  • 4-Year Degree:
    • Offers direct entry to a 1-year MA program and eligibility for a PhD, bypassing the now-discontinued MPhil program.

Breaks and Alternate Courses

Students can take breaks from their primary courses to pursue alternate certifications, fostering flexibility in education.

Focus on Digital and Regional Learning

  • Introduction of e-courses in regional languages.
  • Development of virtual labs for practical learning.
  • Establishment of the National Educational Scientific Forum (NETF) to integrate technology into education seamlessly.

Ambitious Enrollment Goals

  • Target to achieve a 50% Gross Enrollment Ratio in higher education by 2035.
  • Implementation of uniform rules across 45,000 colleges, including private, government, and deemed institutions.

Institutional Autonomy

The policy grants colleges graded academic, administrative, and financial autonomy, empowering them to cater to the evolving needs of students and industries.

Vision for the Future

The Honorable Education Minister highlighted the transformative potential of the NEP, stating that it equips students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world.

The NEP’s focus on flexibility, regional integration, and technology-driven education marks a significant step toward revolutionizing India’s academic landscape.

Policy is Good. And no policy at its core was and is bad. What we lacked in past, proper training of human resources, proper execution, and minimal infrastructure, if continues the NEP WILL not bring any change except reduction in evaluation and reduction of one year for getting PhD.
