Two SPOs Dismissed in Kathua for Alleged Links With Terrorists

Two Special Police Officers (SPOs) of Jammu and Kashmir Police have been dismissed from service over their alleged involvement in terror-related activities in Kathua district. The action comes after both were earlier arrested during investigations linked to terror networks operating in the region.

The dismissed SPOs have been identified as Abdul Latief and Mohd Abbas. According to official sources, the duo was under surveillance after intelligence inputs pointed towards their alleged association and communication with terrorist elements.

Immediate Dismissal Ordered

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua, Mohita Sharma, issued the dismissal orders on Thursday, stating that such activities by personnel responsible for safeguarding society are unacceptable and pose a serious security threat.

“The involvement of personnel in activities detrimental to the security and sovereignty of the nation cannot be tolerated. Both officials have been dismissed from service with immediate effect,” the order reads.

Earlier Arrested in Terror Case

Both SPOs had earlier been arrested during an ongoing investigation into terror support networks in Jammu region. Their alleged role included:

  • Facilitating movement of terrorists,
  • Sharing sensitive information,
  • And possible logistical support.

However, a detailed investigation is still underway.
