Winter Timings Announced for District Courts in Kashmir and Ladakh from December 1

The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has issued an official notification announcing the winter working hours for all District Courts across the Kashmir Division and Union Territory of Ladakh.

The revised timings will remain in force from December 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, as per the latest order issued by Registrar General (O), M.K. Sharma under Notification No. 3407 of 2025/RG/NG-03(I).


Revised Winter Schedule (December 1, 2025 – March 31, 2026)

The new court schedule divides the working day into two sessions, with adjusted timings suitable for winter conditions in Kashmir and Ladakh.

Regular Schedule to Resume from April 2026

The notification further states that from April 1, 2026, all District Courts will revert to the standard timing pattern already prescribed under High Court Order No. 1638/NG dated May 22, 2020.


Official Source and Purpose

The circular, issued from the Office of the Registrar General at Jammu, has been sent to all District Courts for implementation.
This change aims to provide better convenience for court staff, advocates, and litigants during the cold winter months, ensuring smooth judicial functioning despite weather challenges.


Conclusion

The winter timing schedule reflects the High Court’s proactive approach in addressing regional needs and maintaining judicial efficiency during the harsh winter season. The updated schedule will remain valid until March 31, 2026, before switching back to the normal working hours in April.
