  • Why This Relaxation Is Important

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has announced a 15% relaxation in marks for Class 10 students. This relaxation aims to support students and reduce exam stress after the implementation of the new pattern and syllabus adjustments. Many students are now asking what this 15% actually means and how their final marks will be calculated. Let’s understand this in a simple way.

What Does 15% Relaxation Mean?

A 15% relaxation means that students will get 15% extra marks on whatever they have scored in the paper. The total marks of the paper remain the same — 80 marks — but the board gives an additional 15% benefit based on the number of marks a student has attempted correctly. This relaxation helps to balance difficult papers or syllabus changes so that no student feels left behind.

Example of Calculation

The calculation is quite simple:

Final Marks = Attempted Marks × 1.15

For example, if a student attempts 40 marks in the exam, they will get 15% of 40 added as relaxation marks:

40 + (15% of 40) = 40 + 6 = 46 marks

Similarly, if a student scores 60 marks, their final marks will be:

60 + (15% of 60) = 60 + 9 = 69 marks

This process continues until the final marks reach the maximum of 80 marks. Even if the calculation exceeds 80, the total will be capped at 80.

Why This Relaxation Is Important

This 15% relaxation is a positive move by JKBOSE. It recognizes that students have faced various academic challenges, such as syllabus changes, new exam formats, and reduced classroom time in previous years. By offering this benefit, the board ensures that genuine efforts of students are fairly rewarded.

Moreover, it encourages students to attempt the maximum number of questions during the exam, since even partial attempts can benefit from the relaxation. This system helps reduce the fear of failure and boosts overall confidence among JKBOSE students.

Final Thoughts

Students of JKBOSE Class 10 should remember that hard work still matters. The 15% relaxation is a helping hand, not a substitute for preparation. Continue to focus on practice papers, previous year questions, and clear understanding of concepts. With this fair advantage, every student has a better chance to achieve a strong result and move confidently towards higher studies.
