Tulip Garden Opening Date 2025: Nestled between the picturesque Dal Lake and Zabarwan Hills, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden—Asia’s largest tulip garden—will officially open for visitors on March 26, 2025, marking the beginning of the tourism season in the Kashmir Valley, officials confirmed.
A Floral Wonderland Awaits Tourists
Originally known as Siraj Bagh, the garden was established in 2007 under the leadership of Ghulam Nabi Azad, the then Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. The initiative was aimed at expanding the tourist season, which was previously limited to summer and winter months.
Now, as tulips in vibrant colors begin to bloom, the Floriculture Department has ensured that the garden is ready to welcome visitors.
What’s New in 2025? 🌸
🔹 New Varieties of Tulips: This year, two new varieties have been introduced, bringing the total to 74 varieties of tulips.
🔹 1.7 Million Tulips in Bloom: About 17 lakh tulip bulbs have been planted, making the garden an absolute spectacle.
🔹 Extended Bloom Time: The tulips are planted in a phased manner to ensure they remain in bloom for over a month.
🔹 Other Spring Flowers: Visitors will also enjoy hyacinths, daffodils, muscari, and cyclamens, adding to the floral beauty of the garden.
Grand Opening Ceremony 🎉
The grand opening on March 26 will be led by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, as preparations are in full swing to welcome thousands of visitors.

🌷 In 2024, over 4.65 lakh tourists—both domestic and international—visited the tulip garden.
🌷 In 2023, the footfall was 3.65 lakh, showing a remarkable increase in visitors each year.
